Fandom Friday

Here we have a beautiful fan-made trailer for the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who, made just in time for tomorrow's series finale, the last DW episode we'll see for about a year (dear God, it's like Sherlock all over again...) It contains mostly footage and dialogue fromt he reboot, but with a fair share of classic Who clips and sound bytes as well, and it's very well done. Also, as sort of a sidenote, the Wholock stuff going around on Tumblr is crazy. I'm kind of watching from the periphary, but I have to say, some of it is epic, and it is a crossover I would kill to see.

Raison d'Q and C'est la Q, by Mercutio. Pre-slash, Picard/Q. I'm enjoying finding some nice, subtle, IC fic for this pairing. This is mostly introspection and discussion, some really well-written dialogue and good voices. G to PG rating on these two, probably.

TQ, by Mercutio. Picard/Q, NC-17. Ridiculously hot one-shot; d/s, some light bondage, orgasm denial. Hit on quite a few of my own personal fiction kinks, so I guess YMMV, but hey, that's fanfic for you in general.

I read the above stories all in one night, late, before bed, while home alone. I really haven't read much fanfic this week, I've actually been doing some reading in real books, plus class, meetings, and passing out after work everyday (plus some pretty massive headaches, which make staring at tiny print on a screen a hassle and a half...)

Oh, on a Sherlock note, with a hint of the Doctor thrown in, MARIELIKES TO DRAW @ SOCIETY 6, HOLY CRAP. This girls is amazing, and I might actually, seriously be considering saving up some money to actually buy some of these prints (not any time too soon, sadly, since there's STUFF GOING ON in the next few months that won't be going on later, but I'm pretty confident (*fingers crossed*) that the art will be around for a while). "And the World Stops Turning" is just beyond lovely, and "Constantly" makes my heart break, just a little. If anyone wants to buy me a Christmas gift this year *points to link.* Yes.

It's a bit late to be doing chores, I admit, but there's some stuff I can get done before bed, and it's that much less than I need to do in the morning. Looking forward to a relaxing weekend, hope you all can say the same. Cheers!

That's an excellent job of incorporating fifty years of varying quality footage into a relatively seamless trailer. I must admit, I got a little misty during the Hartnell goodbye speech.

That speech was excellent. I don't know the author of the video, but it's making the rounds on Tumblr. I'm a fan of a well-made fanvid, and I love crack, but it's nice to see a video with something of substance to it and some emotional weight behind it.

I loved that trailer. Very well done.

And that is one hell of a artist you've found. Wow.

I'm hoping to use some of my discretionary income in the next three months or some to buy one or two of the prints. I really want "And the World Stops Turning" and "I Just Wanted to Say Hello."
