Schedule Sunday
Aug. 28th, 2011 08:34 pmWent to a family wedding last night; the ceremony was short (JP in a function hall), and the reception was very enjoyable. I spent a good chunk of the evening comparing certain aspects of the evening to the equivalent parts of my wedding while my sister, half-amused, half-exasperated, kept telling me I was being petty. In my defense, I was not doing it to be catty - like I told my sister, as she is planning her wedding, she is going to look at every wedding she attends in the interim for ideas, and every wedding subsequently as a point of comparison. It was nice to see my family (though I felt, as I always do, remarkably awkward because honestly, I barely know these people despite them being blood relations), the setlist that the DJ had was fantastic, with a lot of my favorite songs on there, and it was nice to spend time with people and have fun. My brother brought his friend Joelle who, despite not being part of the family in any way (she and my brother aren't even dating), wound up with the table's centerpiece, the garter, and the bouquet. That was entertainment enough for me for the better part of the night, anyway.
Getting home was an experience, since we seemed to get the worst of Hurricane Irene last night, and roads were flooding by the time we got home at 10:30. This morning there were a couple of hours of pretty intense winds, but then - nothing. Honestly, it was a bit anticlimactic.
This week:
1. Laundry. We spent the day with Jamie and Dan, and and the guys playing League of Legends while I fandom-blogged on Tumblr, read fic, and played a couple of escape-the-room game (one of which I might rec tomorrow if I can solve it; the graphics are wonderful and it's quite atmospheric).
2. Pack my bag for the first day of work. I want to get all the kind of stuff over and done with days to spare. I'm anxious enough about going back, I am not going to leave anything undone that could exacerbate that anxiety.
3. File FAFSA. There is only one class available for me to take this term, so I'll file as a part-timer. At least I can stay enrolled (thank God I remembered I had those Math requirements, still).
4. Basic housekeeping. I am super happy to inform everyone that I have kept the house is good condition this week, and really just need to do the maintenance stuff -- vaccing, dusting, etc.
5. See if there's a Personal Development class later in the Fall that I can register for at NECC. Last one I took with them was ages ago, but it was Tai Chi, and I adored it.
6. Gym. I seem to be stuck at 168 lbs., so I'm going to have to up my workout level.
Once I'm back to work and we catch up from the financial sinkhole that is summer, I might actually be able to plan recreational events! Wouldn't that be novel?
ETA: Ah! Silly me. We do have The Feast coming up, and as it's in September, perhaps I'll even have a little money to spend. I'll likely be there Friday and/or Saturday evening; Sunday Andy and I have a wedding. Official end of summer tradition, oh my gosh :,(
