A brief Tasty Tuesday
Sep. 27th, 2011 10:45 pmSo I'm pretty sure I have a new favorite snack - homemade microwave potato chips. My husband sent me the recipe (if you can call it that; more a set of guidelines or suggestions), and I tried it today. It never ocurred to me to try making something like potato chips in the microwave, but it worked out really well - well enough that, being in a piggy mood as I was today - I ate nearly two potato's worth. Of course, when you consider I could have easily sat down as eaten an entire bag of Lay's, it's not so bad (though I think I will probably keep away from the homemade chips for a little while now).
I used a Yukon Gold potato, sliced thin. If you have a mandoline, this would be the time to break it out. I don't, but I have a surprisingly steady hand for slicing things thin. Anyway, I sprayed Pam on a microwave safe plate, spread out the potato slices, and sprayed a little more on them, then sprinkled with sea salt. Cooking time is going to depend on the thickness of your potato slices, how crispy you want them to be, and the power of your microwave. About 8 mins. on mine, ( and they were just about perfect. )
