A picture of a person you'd love to trade places with

Alex Day... who probably seems like a weird choice, probably because a bunch of you don't even really know who he is. Alex Day is a 23 year old musician from the UK. He started out writing songs about Pokemon, Harry Potter, and Doctor Who; he's a member of the most prolific Time Lord Rock band on the 'Net (Chameleon Circuit); he has half a million YouTube subscribers; he's the Number One most subscribed channel in the UK; he is the only unsigned artist to ever have 2 singles in the UK Top Twenty (including one in the Top 5); he had the Number 2 selling album in the UK, right behind COLDPLAY; and most importantly, he makes a living being awesome and nerdy and doing exactly what he wants to do. Also, he's adorable and a freaking sweetheart. He's not exactly famous, so he doesn't have the pressures and problems that come with real fame, but he has a large, core group of devoted fans who love what he does, and that, to me, is AWESOME. ...Sorry for the rant, btw, I just... REALLY like Alex Day, okay?

A picture that makes you laugh

In the background you can see my sister's ex-boyfriend Eric and my friend Amanda... the rather psychotically grinning young man is Lance. I don't know why he's making this facial expression while playing an "innocent" game of Twister. We used to call this pic "WHY HELLO LITTLE CHILDREN," and it's kind of one in a series of photos during this evening where Lance is being a fucking creep, lol. This one is and always has been my favorite, though. This was February of 2008, at my parents house, back when we saw Lance basically all the time.

A picture of your most treasured item

My wedding and engagement rings. THE most expensive pieces of jewelry I've ever owned, the only rings I've ever been able to adjust to wearing long-term, the only jewelry I only take of when I'm doing certain kinds of cooking or cleaning (ever try to pull on latex gloves over a diamond ring? How about rolling meatballs? Yeah, no, ew. Not fun).

I will bitch and moan about her for hours (she can make me SO MAD), but I love my mother, and honestly, I was not the easiest kid to raise (I was well-behaved, but... emotionally retarded? For a lot of my youth). Having to deal with a depressed eleven year old, or a fourteen year old crying half the night because of panic attacks can't have been easy, but she was good about it. There are a lot of things about the way I was brought up that I resent or regret, but the way she dealt with those sort of issues made me realize that she was doing the best she could, the way she THOUGHT was best for me. I can agree or disagree with how she did it, but I appreciate the intentions, and she did get me through quite a bit.

I don't really do "crazy" things, but my brother and I go off and have goofy adventures -- exploring historical sites near our homes, walking through parts of the city didn't know existed, finding abandoned buildings or paths through the woods, etc. He knows both his city and my city like the back of his hands, just by wandering about, and he'll take me to show me some of the cool places he's found. Also, anything involving ghost hunting or paranormal history, and the two of us are ON IT. This is not true for... um, basically any of my other friends or family.

That picture of the Twister guy is priceless. I laughed when I saw it. Your wedding rings are very pretty!

I know what you mean about your Mother. My Mom didn't try anymore after a certain age but looking back I can see that the stuff from earlier ages she was just trying her best.

Your brother looks and sounds like a very cool person.

Thank you!

Yeah, I mean... once I started looking at my mom and just another person, instead of someone who should have ~all he answers~ it didn't make me agree with her any more, or think she did a better job than she did, but I started to appreciate more how hard the job was, and the fact that she was doing the best she could with what she had. Not having to live with her/under her rules anymore has improved our relationship ten-fold as well (not that we had an awful relationship before, but we had blowouts that just don't happen anymore).

My brother, who we worried about A LOT as a kid, has become a pretty cool person as an adult :)
